In the meeting, which was held with the initiative of the US side, the arrest of Evan Gershkovich, who worked for the US Wall Street Journal, was discussed.
Lavrov stated that it is unacceptable for the USA to exaggerate the event.
The Russian minister told Blinken that the issue of the US journalist’s arrest had been reported to the US Embassy in the prescribed manner.
Lavrov said that the court will decide on the future of the journalist, whom he claims is trying to collect information that is considered a state secret, and that the United States should respect the decision of the Russian administration.
The two ministers also discussed current issues of bilateral relations.
