According to a written statement from the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the US Department of State has approved the shipment of 50 “JASSM-ER” long-range cruise missiles and related equipment worth 104 billion dollars to Japan.
A notification was sent to the Congress regarding the approval of the sale.
The State Department’s approvals for arms sales mean that the sale is okay for the US administration.
If the US Congress does not object to the Department’s decision within 30 business days, the administration begins negotiations with the country where the sale was approved for the contents of the package.
At the end of these negotiations, the USA offers a letter of offer to that country. If the offer receives a positive response, the procurement process takes place.
