Security agreement signed between Iraq and Iran

According to the written statement of the Iraqi Prime Ministry Press Office, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani met with the Secretary General of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Ali Shamhani, in Baghdad.

During the meeting, in which relations between the two countries and regional issues were discussed, Sudani stated that he would not allow Iraq to be an “attack field” against any neighboring country.

While the agreement signed between Iran and Saudi Arabia under the mediation of China was also mentioned in the Sudani-Shamhani meeting, no details were given on the subject.

As part of the meeting, an agreement was signed with Iran to strengthen cooperation in the field of joint border protection and security.

Shamhani is also expected to meet with Iraqi President Abdullatif Rashid and Parliament Speaker Mohammed Halbusi.
