It was stated that in the joint military exercise held between the Capital Mechanized Infantry Division of the South Korean army and the US 2nd Infantry Division-ROK / US Combined Division, training activities focused on the interoperability of the soldiers of the two countries and combined firepower.
South Korean military officials said the exercise was “to demonstrate the enormous firepower of the Allies in response to ongoing threats from North Korea.”
Missile tests from North Korea
North Korea, which increased its missile tests after the “Liberty Shield” exercise that started between South Korea and the USA on March 14, announced that it was holding a nuclear counter-attack exercise on March 20.
South Korea and Japan announced on March 19 that North Korea conducted a ballistic missile test in the direction of the Sea of Japan (East Sea) at 11.05 am local time. Reaching a maximum altitude of 50 kilometers, the ballistic missile traveled 800 kilometers and fell into the Sea of Japan.
It was noteworthy that the experiment was carried out during the “Liberty Shield” exercise, which was started by the South Korean and US armies on March 14 and will end today.
