According to the news of Le Parisien, the family of the seriously injured person filed a complaint with the prosecutor’s office on charges of “deliberately obstructing the emergency services” and “attempted murder”.
While the Rennes Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the family’s complaint, it announced that the case file would be transferred to the Niort Prosecutor’s Office as it fell within their area of expertise.
The person, who was learned to be of Toulouse origin and was 32 years old, was seriously injured as a result of a blow to the head during the demonstration and fell into a coma.
In the news of the Le Monde newspaper, based on the audio recordings obtained after the events, it was claimed that the police did not allow the emergency aid teams to enter the demonstration area to intervene with the injured.
The Deux-Sevres Governorate, on the other hand, claimed in a statement on Twitter that the allegations did not reflect the truth.
Many people were injured
Thousands of environmentalists held a demonstration in the village of Saint-Soline in the country’s Deux-Sevres province on March 25 to protest the construction of 16 artificial watersheds in the region.
Official sources stated that 28 gendarmes and 7 demonstrators were injured in the clashes between the parties in the demonstrations where the police and gendarmerie intervened harshly.
Organizers, on the other hand, stated that about 200 demonstrators were injured.
