Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russia’s St. Held in St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, made statements about nuclear weapons planned to be deployed in Belarus.
Pointing to the ‘State of the Union’ agreement between Russia and Belarus, Putin said that within the framework of this agreement, work on the placement of nuclear warheads in Belarus continues.
“As you know, we are consulting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to ship nuclear tactical weapons to Belarus within the scope of the agreement. The first nuclear warheads were delivered to Belarusian territory. This was the first step. We will complete this work by the end of the year,” said Putin.
Stating that Western countries and NATO pose a nuclear threat to them, Putin added that Russia and Belarus acted as a deterrent, and added, “Anyone who aims to defeat us strategically should consider this situation.”
“The first country to use strategic weapons in the world was the United States of America, which dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki,” Putin concluded.
