According to the news of the state-run Ahbar al-Yevm newspaper, the accident occurred when the passenger train derailed and crashed into the station platform.
The Egyptian Ministry of Health announced that 20 ambulances were dispatched to the scene of the accident, and according to the first determinations, 2 people lost their lives and 16 people were injured.
It was stated that most of the injured were not life-threatening.
Making a brief statement on the subject, Egypt’s Chief Prosecutor Hamada al-Savi announced that an investigation team was established to investigate the train accident.
It was stated that the mobility on the railway lines was returned to normal.
