Comcare accused the Department of Defense, which it found at fault in the case of soldiers being attacked by crocodiles, for “not training its employees and failing to provide a safe working environment”.
The Australian Department of Defense was also alleged to have violated federal occupational health and safety laws.
The Ministry held responsible for the incident is expected to be fined up to AUD 1.5 million.
On 6 August 2021, 2 Australian soldiers were attacked by an approximately 2.5 meter long crocodile while fishing in the state of Queensland. One of the soldiers received serious injuries to his body, and the other’s arm was severed.
