In a petition submitted to the Atlanta Supreme Court by attorney Steven Sadow, former US President Donald Trump was declared innocent.
In the two-page dossier submitted to the court, “I hereby waive the official hearing and say I am not guilty for the allegations in this case.” statement was included.
With the relevant petition, Trump also gave up his right to attend the preliminary hearing to be held next week.
The 18 people charged with Trump were expected to appear in a preliminary hearing in Fulton District Court on September 6. While no date has been set for the trial in which Trump and 18 others will be tried, the Fulton District Attorney’s Office is requesting that the trial begin on October 23.
Trump accused of “election interference” in Georgia
Trump was indicted by the Atlanta grand jury on August 15 on charges of interfering with the 2020 election results in the state of Georgia, and surrendered on August 24 as part of the indictment.
It was the first time that a criminal record photo was taken for the arrest file of Trump, who paid the bail amount of 200 thousand dollars within the scope of this case, when he surrendered. Trump made history as the first American president to have a criminal record photo taken.
Trump has raised more than $7.1 million for his candidacy since he surrendered on August 24.
