According to a written statement from the Qatar Emiri Court, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamed Al Thani and President of the UAE Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a telephone conversation.
During the meeting, “fraternal relations between the two countries and ways to develop these relations, as well as regional and international developments” were discussed.
In his meeting with Emir Temim, Al Nahyan stated that he supports the organization of the IMF and World Bank meetings to be held in 2026 in Qatar, so they withdrew from the candidacy to host the organization in favor of Qatar.
The Emir of Qatar, on the other hand, said, “I would like to thank the brotherly President of the UAE for his support of Qatar in hosting these meetings.”
