Ugandan soldiers opened fire on Kenyans fishing in Lake Victoria, national media reported.
As a result of the fire, 2 fishermen lost their lives and 1 fisherman was injured.
The injured fisherman was referred to Port Victoria Hospital for treatment.
No official statement has been made yet from Uganda on the matter.
There has been a conflict between Kenya and Uganda since 2009 in the 68 thousand square meter Lake Victoria, which surrounds the East African countries Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
Lake Victoria, with its rich fish resources, is the livelihood of the fishermen of both countries. The two countries both consume the Nile perch in the lake and export it to the USA, Europe and the Middle East.
Kenyans fishing in the lake are from time to time detained by Ugandan security forces on the grounds that they crossed the Ugandan border and violated the rules.
75 Kenyan fishermen fishing in Lake Victoria in the last 6 months were detained by Ugandan soldiers.
Uganda, unlike Kenya, has fully equipped units of special army units on the lake.
