According to the statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kuleba made a speech via video conference at the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of EU countries.
Pointing out that artillery ammunition is the primary need for his country, Kuleba said, “The issue is not only about the quantity, but also about the speed of supply. The sooner we get shells, the more lives will be saved.” said.
Minister Kuleba expressed his appreciation for the initiative of his European counterparts to increase the European Peace Fund by another 2 billion euros to finance the purchase of arms and ammunition for Ukraine and replenish the stocks of partners.
Kuleba thanked the EU High Representative for Foreign Relations and Security Policy Josep Borrell and all EU member states for the proposal to purchase joint ammunition on the basis of Estonia’s initiative, and said:
“Ukraine welcomes the initiative to sign a joint ammunition purchase agreement between some European states and the European Defense Agency. We expect this to be implemented quickly and ammunition for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to be delivered as soon as possible. This is a strategic step that will bring victory closer.“
Kuleba called on EU members to provide Ukraine with additional air defense systems, tank shells, anti-tank systems, long-range high-precision weapons and other equipment.
Emphasizing the importance of systematic weapon repair and production, Kuleba added that “Russia will lose its potential sooner or later, therefore it is important to provide the Ukrainian soldiers with the maximum number of weapons and shells already.”
