In Sudan, there was a violent explosion for an undetermined reason near the General Command of the Army.
In the images shared on social media, the sound of a big explosion is heard around the General Command of the Army and Khartoum International Airport, and smoke and flames rise from the area.
The violent explosion is believed to have occurred as a result of an aerial attack on the ammunition or fuel tank.
No official statement has been made yet from the Army and Rapid Support Forces (HDK) clashing in Sudan regarding the cause of the explosion or the damage it caused.
According to eyewitnesses, clashes took place between the army and the HDK in the cities of Bahri to the north of Khartoum and Umdurman to the west.
“Seven citizens lost their lives due to HDK’s bombardment”
Army spokesman Nebil Abdullah said in a statement yesterday that 7 citizens lost their lives as a result of the “random” bombardment carried out by HDK in Umbedda Neighborhood in the city of Umdurman.
Stating that the HDK also bombed the Hammadab District in the south of Khartoum, Abdullah said, “Army forces also defeated a new attack of the HDK against the Armored Units headquarters, destroying 4 lightly armored and 25 combat vehicles.” had used the phrase.
Clashes between the army and the HDK in Sudan
The Sudanese army wanted the full integration of the HDK into the army within 2 years, which it once supported but saw as a threat because it acted as an independent and parallel army.
The verbal war and tension, which started with the HDK’s declaration that it could accept this in a period spanning about 10 years after the civilian government, turned into an armed conflict between the parties in the capital Khartoum and various cities on the morning of April 15.
More than 3,000 people, mostly civilians, have lost their lives and tens of thousands of people have been injured in the fierce clashes that are still going on in Khartoum and its environs, especially in the western cities, which are now in their 5th month.
The United Nations has announced that more than 4.3 million people have been displaced due to the conflict in Sudan.
