According to the news of the Washington Post newspaper, it is being investigated how an unidentified person broke into the home of President Joe Biden’s National Security Advisor Sullivan in the capital, which is guarded around the clock by Secret Service agents, about two weeks ago, undetected by the guards.
According to the report, Sullivan met an unknown person at his house at around 3:00 am and told him to go.
In the news, it was stated that the Secret Service agents stationed outside the house were unaware that this person had entered the house until the person left and Sullivan warned them.
It was stated that the person entering the house looked “drunk”
The report stated that the person who was described as “drunk” was confused about the whereabouts of the person and there was no evidence that he knew Sullivan or tried to harm him.
It was alleged that the person in question had left the house until the Secret Service agents became aware of the incident.
Investigation started
According to the news, Secret Service Spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi announced that although Sullivan was unharmed, they took this matter seriously and launched a comprehensive investigation to avoid losing sight of all aspects of what was happening.
“Any deviation from our protection protocols is unacceptable and protection personnel will be held responsible if such a thing turns out to be,” said Guglielmi, adding that additional security measures have been taken around Sullivan’s home pending the end of the investigation.
It is stated that such an incident should have happened to one of Biden’s most senior advisers, Jake Sullivan, who frequently accompanies him on his foreign visits and is responsible for “national security”, which worries the White House and national security officials.
The White House has not yet made a statement on the matter.
The recent attacks on lawmakers, their teams and their relatives in the USA have attracted attention.
In February, a person attacked MP Angie Craig, and Paul Pelosi, 82, the wife of former Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, was seriously injured when a person broke into her home in San Francisco last year and hit her on the head with a hammer.
Finally, yesterday, two people working in Congressman Gerry Connolly’s district office in Virginia were attacked by someone who entered the office with a baseball bat.
According to data from the US Capitol Police, there were approximately 7,500 cases of direct threats to members of Congress in 2022.
