Weapons, armored vehicles and equipment support from Turkey to the TRNC police

The handover ceremony held at the General Directorate of Police in Nicosia, the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), was attended by Turkey’s Ambassador to Nicosia Metin Feyzioğlu, the Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces (KTBK) Commander Major General Sezai Öztürk, the TRNC Security Forces Command (GKK) Commander Major General. Zorlu Topaloğlu, Deputy General Director of the TRNC Police Kasım Kuni, Head of the Special Operations Department of the General Directorate of Security Selami Türker and military and civil officials attended.

Speaking in the program that started with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, Ambassador Feyzioğlu stated that a strong police force is necessary and important for the protection of the fundamental rights and freedoms of the citizens and said, “As Turkey, we are in perfect cooperation with the TRNC in every field, and we are on our side to strengthen the police force. We will do our part.” he said.

Selami Türker, Head of Special Operations of the General Directorate of Security, also referred to the cooperation between Turkey and TRNC police forces and wished that the equipment provided to the TRNC police by Turkey would be beneficial.

In his address at the ceremony on behalf of the TRNC, Deputy Director General of Police Kasım Kuni noted that their primary duty is to equip the police with tools, equipment and technical equipment in accordance with the requirements of the time, and to make the TRNC police compete with other police organizations in the world.


“Our motherland does not spare us any kind of contribution to strengthen our police”

Kuni, who thanked Turkey and the authorities for their support, said, “We, as the Police Department, are very lucky in this regard. Our Motherland, with all its institutions, especially the General Directorate of Security, by continuing to stand by us in all circumstances, to ensure the peace and security of our people in the best possible way and to protect our police. He does not withhold from us any kind of contribution to his empowerment.” he said.

After the speeches, the material handover protocol was signed between Selami Türker, Head of Special Operations of the General Directorate of Security of Turkey, and Kasım Kuni, Deputy General Director of the Police.

With the signing of the protocol, weapons, ammunition, armored vehicles, uniforms and equipment, all produced in Turkey, entered the inventory of the TRNC police.

The ceremony ended with the presentation of the donated materials and equipment.
