According to reports in the Indian media, a mass wedding ceremony was held on 26 May in the country’s Rajasthan state.
In the ceremony, 4,826 people from Muslim and Hindu communities got married in less than 6 hours.
Thus, 2,413 couples entered the Guinness Book of Records in two separate categories, “the most couples married in 12 hours” and “the most couples married in 24 hours”.
1 million people attended the ceremony
More than 1 million people, including the families and relatives of the couples, attended the ceremony, which was also attended by the Prime Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot.
After the ceremony, gifts such as jewelry and household items were presented to the new couples.
It was shared that the mass wedding ceremony was organized by a non-governmental committee that provides support to couples living in poor areas and having financial difficulties in getting married.
