In the statement, it was announced that flights from two international airports in the capital, Mexico City, were canceled for 3 days due to the ash emitted from the volcano, and training was suspended in the states of Puebla and Tlaxcala.
Mexico’s National Center for Disaster Prevention stated that “Stage 3 Yellow Volcano Alert” was declared due to the changes observed in the volcano.
According to the statement, a total of 573 eruptions, mostly on a small scale, have been recorded at the volcano, on the border of Puebla and Morelos states, since May 21.
In the statement that the public was warned against explosions and ash rains, it was announced that the smoke emitted from the volcano could harm human health.
While the yellow alert for volcanoes signals medium-scale eruptions, ash rains and magma flows to the surrounding areas, warnings are made not to go out unless necessary and to avoid directly breathing the smoke by using a mask.
